No longer THE brotherhood

I was once part of an inseperable group of three friends.

We met when we were 15. Became really close when we were 16. One of us went to a different JC when we were 17. And when we were 18, and in the army, I was the one seperated from the 2 of them.

Yet one thing never changed: Our friendship.

I always thought they were the kind of friends who could last an entire life-time. The ones who would be your best men at your wedding. The ones who you would still be watching Saturday night football with when you were old and pot-bellied. The ones who would listen when you had girl-troubles.

Well, things change.

For no explicable reason, one of us has decided that the friendship is no longer as important. He's no longer free to hang out. No longer free for that late- night supper or the overnight "torning" sessions to watch soccer. No longer free to celebrate his Birthdays with us.

Why? Because University was the final straw. 3 friends, 3 different Uni's.

And one of us has decided to coop himself up in hall. Deciding that playing Hall games and going clubbing are more important than his 6 year friends.

The other 2 of us wondered yesterday, over a phone conversation, if we had somehow neglected this friendship, causing it to break down.

I'm not sure anymore. And i don't know whether if we tried to save the friendship now, it could still saved.

But you know what, the saddest thing is when part of you doesn't even care anymore.
