My 'Tyco'ness (Part 2)
Today, i was damn lucky for the second time in a week.
I had gone down to Suntec City's cinema to collect my free movie tickets to Batman Begins.I was entitled to this because i had charged $100 to my UOB debit mini last month. However, there was a catch: only 106 pairs of tickets were available.
When i arrived at 10 (the giveaway started at 10pm), i saw that there was already 100m long queue before me. This lent credence to the myths that:
1)S'poreans like to queue for freebies
2)S'poreans are all rich people who can afford to spend $100 on shopping
3)Most S'poreans are more kiasu than me and can start queuing from god knows how early in the morning!
4)S'poreans can afford to spend $100 without having to go to work! (how else do you explain the presence of so many peopl in the queue-some of them adults- on a Monday morning...)
Anyway, i decided to take my chances and join the queue and hope that i was one of the first 106people.
After queuing for almost an hour, one of the cinema staff came out to announce that there were only 9 pairs of tickets left. She promptly proceeded to count the people in the queue and stopped at the gal before me. Then she said to the rest of us:"You all can leave already, this girl is the last person in line for the tickets."
Just as i thought that my hopes were dashed and wanted to leave, the girl in front of me asked the cinema staff if she could claim the reward with $90 of receipts and was told that she needed $100 worth of receipts.
I was overjoyed.
In the end, i got my tickets and was the last one to get them! 50 plus people behind me went home having queued for nothing! And i, Christopher Ong,who had not even bothered to come down early like the rest, got the last pair!
And that's why my close friends all think i am tyco(lucky)...When such things happen, i believe that my Guardian Angel(if there is such a thing), must be a particularly hard-working and caring one...Muahahahaha..
